Two More Years! Two More Years!
Yesterday, Parliament (narrowly) voted that Canada would stay in Afghanistan for another two years.
Correct us if we're wrong but a 149 to 144 vote doesn't exactly scream "landslide". Whatever happened to margin of error? Well, it really doesn't matter how the vote went seeing as Mr. Harper stated that he would go ahead for another year with or without the vote.
Hey Steven; reality check, contrary to your own skewed belief-you do not hold omnipotent power over Parliament!
On a lighter note, it's only two years... right?

More Brown
For everyone who thought the Party was all serious political rantings:

We're not sure how we feel about the music but we like their name.
The Party would like to thank the infamous IanK for this link.

Budget Smudget
The Tories announced the 2006 budget the other day, it contained lots of tax "cuts" and "increases" to go along with them, and Canada Council seems to have gotten screwed (again - see 1997/98)...
The late Liberal government had promised $150 million over the next three years. Harper decided that $50 million over two years should be enough to shut them up for a while. Think of all the tanks you can buy with $100 million.
For the record, I have no idea how many tanks you can buy with $100 million .
Steven, who exactly are you going to get to paint your state portrait now? Eh?

For those of you that this entry has pissed off:
The Brown Party of Canada does not endorse war in any form but does realize that Canada has certain peacekeeping obligations. That said, the Party believes that the tax money that was spent creating the above poorly designed webpages could have spent on support efforts.
