Introducing: Overlord Stephen Harper!

Much to the dismay of The Brown Party of Canada, Stephen Harper's Conservatives have won a minority government. We're looking on the bright side though... Harper will most likely be in power for a total of: 18 months, 2 years or 4 years tops. For the record, the Party is betting on the 18 months. That said, he might be around longer if Canadians take a liking to crazy-right-wing-religious-zealots - it did "work" for the United States after all.

The following is a list of Conservative government predictions:
  1. a raise in the GST (c'mon you didn't actually think we believed you about reducing it, now did you Stephen?)
  2. more Canadians sporting Lego-man haircuts
  3. Canada generally becomes a little more lame, as if we were the coolest kid at the sock hop in the first place

The Brown Party thinks another Conservative government might be a blessing in disguise. We hope they'll show Canada their true colours and not get re-elected for a very long time, or at least until they change their name again to something like "The Progressive Regressive Conservative Party of Canada".

You never do know with those sneaky Tories.

...when I'm not playing AD&D I'm deleting articles from Wikipedia

NOTE: This post goes out to all you righteous "editors" who hang around wikipedia.org all day deleting newer articles without giving them the chance to expand.

So... a few weeks ago the Party decided to start a wikipedia.org article, the wiki being (as we thought) an open source dictionary/encyclopedia. The article was up for no more than a week when we noticed it became pegged for deletion, this is where the "wikipedia editing community" decided to show it's ugly head(s).

The deletion process started with one user (who's name escapes me) calling the article not notable. Other similar arguments followed including a debate on our side by one Virtualian. To make a long story short The Brown Party of Canada article on Wikipedia was put down Monday, January 16 2006.

An interesting footnote to this rant:
Because of the article's deletion Google now shows a total of two hits for the search:
"the brown party of canada"
This is exactly what the Party was hoping to achieve...
